The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a statewide campaign titled ‘Waqf Sudhaar Janjagran Abhiyan’ to raise awareness about the Waqf Board and the management of Waqf properties, especially among the Muslim community, said BJP national general secretary Radha Mohan Das Agarwal on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press
conference at the state
BJP headquarters, Agarwal said the campaign will be implemented across all BJP mandals in Goa. He appealed to BJP workers to inform people about the amendments to the Waqf Act and dispel misunderstandings within the Goan Muslim community, despite there being no Waqf Board in the state.

Agarwal also alleged corruption in the management of Waqf Board properties, naming Board members, the CEO, and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge. He claimed that land intended for the welfare of the weaker sections of the Muslim community was being misused.

“The government plans to publish all Waqf property details on a public portal. All illegally occupied land will be reclaimed and used to build educational institutions, training centers, and hospitals for community welfare,” he said.

Earlier, Agarwal held discussions with BJP leaders, including MLAs and ministers, and alliance partner Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), regarding the Waqf Board Bill recently passed in Parliament. Independent MLAs Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco and Chandrakant Shetye also met with the national BJP leader.

Following the meeting, Dhavalikar said the MGP will publicly propagate the importance of the Bill. “The benefits of the amendment to the Waqf Act will be visible after a decade,” he said.
