Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said a bus stop will be notified near the South Goa District Hospital in Margao before the end of the ongoing assembly session to ease access for commuters who currently have to walk nearly a kilometre from the Margao KTC bus stand.

The issue was raised by Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa during Zero Hour.

He said the public face inconvenience due to the lack of direct bus connectivity to the hospital.

“At present, passengers are forced to disembark at the Margao KTC bus stand and walk all the way to the hospital,” said D’Costa, urging the government to make special provisions for a dedicated bus service from the Margao KTC bus stand to the South Goa District Hospital.

He also said the government should introduce a shuttle service between the KTC stand and the hospital.

“One year has passed since this issue was first raised during the monsoon session. The road gets waterlogged during rains, and it becomes difficult for people to walk to the hospital. The distance is around 1km,” said D’Costa, adding that buses currently do not stop at the location due to the absence of a notified bus stop.

Sawant said a bus stop for existing buses on the route would be officially notified before the conclusion of the session.
