Panaji: The capital city of Panaji has gained a lot through the state budget presented by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

The City Investments to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain 2.0 (CITIIS 2.0) scheme has been sanctioned for the capital city, due to which it would receive a financial assistance of Rs 135 crore. The scheme will run for four years and will include saturation in solid waste management operations and Centre for Circularity and Climate.

The sewerage network of Panaji will further be strengthened by the upgradation of sewerage lines at Altinho and the laying of the new ones on the Kadamba Plateau.

The government has also proposed to monetise the assets created under the Smart City Mission in Panaji.

To save 12.19 crore litres of water in the capital city annually, 6,000 smart water meters would be fitted by the government in Panaji. Furthermore, the storm water drains along the Atmaram Borkar Road, the 18th June Road and the Pandurang Pissurlekar Road would be upgraded and these roads would be concretised.

The new jetty terminal will be ready by June 1, 2025, while the work of a mini-convention centre will be complete by December 2026. The redevelopment of Junta House and the construction of a convention centre at Dona Paula would also be taken up soon. The construction of new police headquarters in Panaji is also in the pipeline.
