The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured that all necessary facilities will be made available at Shirgao for Shri Lairai’s Jatrotsav, which has been declared as a state-level mahotsav, said Mayem MLA Premendra Shet.

Shet was speaking at a press conference held at the Shri Lairai’s mandap on Friday.

Shri Lairai Devasthan Committee president Ganesh Gaonkar submitted a memorandum to Shet, expressing gratitude to the Chief Minister for according the jatra to state-level status.

The memorandum also includes demands such as the provision of basic amenities, beautification of the temple and its premises, construction of an agrashala, and necessary arrangements for pilgrims and visitors during the jatrotsav.

Shet thanked the Chief Minister and said the government was committed to developing the village with the perspective of hosting the jatra as a state-level festival.

He said that the memorandum would be submitted to the Chief Minister and added that the demands listed would be fulfilled on a priority basis.

Meanwhile, Shirgao has also been declared a spiritual centre by Shri Gurudatta Pithadhish Brahmeshanand Swamiji.

Shet said that the unique tradition of Shri Lairai’s Jatrotsav – Agnidivya,  performed by devotees known as dhonds enhances the spiritual, cultural, and traditional image of Goa, offering a rich experience to both devotees and tourists.
