The Benaulim Block
Congress on Saturday launched a drive to collect relief materials for people affected by floods in Assam, with the materials to be
collected at its office from August 15 to 21.
The drive was launched during a programme at the Benaulim Block Congress Office, where two young entrepreneurs, Lessley Pereira and Welrico D’Costa, were felicitated for their entrepreneurial spirit and contribution to the local community. Former Cavelossim sarpanch Rosa Martinha Dias was also felicitated in recognition of her service to the community.
The programme also marked the 80th Independence Day. Benaulim Block Congress president Keith Gracias hoisted the National Flag in the presence of party workers, members and supporters.
The Benaulim Block Congress said that the Independence Day occasion is an opportunity to stand together with fellow citizens in times of adversity and extend help to those in need.
The flag-hoisting ceremony was followed by the felicitation programme and launch of the relief material collection drive.
Benaulim ZP member Luiza Rodrigues, along with block vice-president Solon Furtado and member Paul Lobo highlighted the importance of community participation and extending a helping hand to people
in distress.
The Benaulim Block Congress appealed to people of the constituency to contribute essential materials for those affected by the floods in Assam.
