Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant met Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav as also   Union Minister for Railways and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw in New Delhi on Friday, discussing with them issues pertaining to the state transport sector, especially  boosting Konkan Railwayinfrastructure, and environment.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by state legislative assembly Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar when he called on Yadav.

Later, the Sawant said he “discussed a wide range of environment and forest-related issues” with the Union Environment Minister. I am “grateful for his intervention and prompt resolution of most of the concerns,” he added.

Tawadkar said he had asked the Chief Minister to take him along, during the meeting with the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, as he wanted to sort out forest clearance for road work-related issues of two villages in the wildlife sanctuary area in Canacona taluka.

“There was no discussion on cabinet reshuffle,” Tawadkar maintained.

On his earlier Delhi visit, the Chief Minister had taken Calangute MLA Michael Lobo along with him to meet Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah amid the speculations of a cabinet reshuffle.

The Chief Minister informed that he held a fruitful discussion with the Union Minister for Railways on enhancing Konkan Railway infrastructure, with a focus on improved connectivity, and strengthening the transport sector.

Sawant expressed gratitude for Vaishnaw’s positive response and continued support towards boosting the development of Konkan Railway.
