Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar on Thursday said that the party will hold alliance talks with Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday, while talks with Goa Forward Party (GFP) have been put on hold.
Chodankar said he spoke with RGP national president and St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar and AAP Goa president Valmiki Naik on Wednesday.
“Yesterday, we had a discussion with the two leaders; however, both were busy. Tomorrow (Friday) we will sit for discussion. Talks with GFP are on hold. We will wait for their decision and accordingly the talks will begin,” said Chodankar responding to media queries at the Congress House in the city
on Thursday.
It may be noted that earlier this month, upset over the “fake narrative” that their party chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai was not cooperating with the Opposition MLAs, the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of GFP had suspended alliance talks with Congress.
The PAC, however, had said that they have not severed ties with Congress but have suspended the alliance discussion in order to focus on strengthening the party in all the 40 constituencies.
The PAC had also said that their agenda was to defeat the BJP. Members of the PAC said that they were upset over the allegations levelled by Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao that even after sending a message, Sardesai did not attend a meeting of the Opposition MLAs at the assembly complex in Porvorim.
