The second day of Cashew Fest 2026, organised by the Goa Forest Development Corporation Limited (GFDCL), witnessed strong participation, offering a blend of culinary showcases, expert discussions and cultural performances centred on Goa’s cashew heritage.

Stalls run by self-help groups from across the state attracted large crowds, featuring a wide range of cashew-based products such as feni, cashew apple juice, preserves, wines, vinegars and other value-added items. Food stalls serving traditional and innovative cashew dishes added to the festive appeal.

The day began with two technical sessions. The first, on culinary uses of the cashew apple, was moderated by food historian Odette Mascarenhas and featured chefs and culinary experts including Prahlad Sukhtankar, Shubhra Shankhwalker, Sapna Sardessai and Salvita Viegas. The panel discussed traditional recipes as well as new approaches to incorporating cashew apple into contemporary cuisine.

The second session, on organic cashew farming, was moderated by Dr A R Dessai and included panellists Vindesh Shirodkar, Dr Suresh Kunkalikar and Angelo Barreto. Discussions focused on sustainable farming practices, soil health and the potential for improved market opportunities through organic cultivation.

The evening programme featured a series of performances. DJ Blink opened the show, followed by performances by students of Destiny Music Academy. A fashion show by designer Philu Martins showcased Goa-inspired creations.

Goan band Injunktion delivered a high-energy performance before singer Benny Dayal concluded the evening with a live act that drew an enthusiastic response from the audience.

Organisers also highlighted safety measures, with the DriveSafeGoa initiative promoting responsible celebration at the venue. Transport facilities, including Goa Miles and the Pink Rickshaw service, were made available for attendees.

With strong turnout and diverse programming, the festival continues to highlight the cultural, culinary and agricultural significance of cashew in Goa.
