A driver escaped unhurt after a large tree collapsed onto a car near Berth No. 9 within the premises of the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA). The vehicle was completely crushed.
Despite the impact, the driver managed to
get out safely.
Vasco Fire Station Officer Dilip Bicholkar said that fire personnel assessed the situation and found that heavy equipment would be required to remove the fallen tree and free the
damaged vehicle.
The fire tender team then contacted the Fire and Emergency Services headquarters for a crane. The Mormugao Port Authority also assisted by providing its own crane for the operation.
Firefighters and workers cut the tree into sections and used the crane to lift the debris from
the vehicle.
After several hours of work, the vehicle was removed and the tree cleared from the road, restoring normal movement
in the area.
