Elections held for temple panels in Bardez; Candolim and Aldona polls postponed

Mapusa: Elections for temple committees across Bardez taluka were held on Sunday, with mahajans from 32 temples casting their votes to elect new committees for the 2025-2028 term. However, elections for two temples in Candolim and Aldona were postponed.

One of the key elections took place at Shree Dev Bodgeshwar Saunsthan, where 1,189 mahajans turned out to vote. Three panels contested—led by current president Anand Bhaidkar, current secretary Adv. Vaman Pandit, and Adv. Mahesh Rane. Counting was on till late night.

Govind Shirodkar was re-elected as president of the Shri Maharudra Saunsthan committee. Other elected members include Jayesh Keni (secretary), Jagdish Mhapsekar (treasurer), and Sanket Mhapsekar (attorney). Vice committee members are Jayant Sirsat, Avdhut Kavlekar, Nitin Neogi, and Pushpak Natekar.

Tushar Tople was re-elected unopposed for a third term as president of the Shri Vitthal Rakhumai temple in Ansabhat, Mapusa. Other members include Paresh Natekar (secretary), Prasad V. Kavlekar (Treasurer), and Suraj Dangi (attorney). The vice committee consists of Shreyash S. Kavlekar (vice president), Ritesh Manerkar (joint secretary), Rahul P. Shirodkar (joint treasurer), and Shubham S. Mapsekar (joint attorney).

At Shree Siddheshwar Devasthan, Caisua, Surendra Govekar was elected as president, with Nilesh Chodankar (secretary), Pandurang Shirodkar (Treasurer), and Goguldas Naik (attorney). Other members include Rajkumar Govekar, Rajendra Shirodkar, Ajit Tamonkar, and Pratab Khorjuyekar.

Pandurang Matkar was re-elected as president of Shree Shantadurga Saunsthan, Calangute. Other elected members are Krishnanath Nanodkar (vice president), Sadanand Narvekar (secretary), Rama Salgaonkar (joint secretary), Phondu Ashvekar (treasurer), Dnyaneshwar Matkar (joint treasurer), Chandrakant Chodankar (attorney), and Rohidas Haldankar (joint attorney).

Rohan Candolkar was elected as president of Shri Sai Saunsthan, Candolim, with Dilip Candolkar (vice president), Atchut Candolkar (secretary), Sachin Shirodkar (joint secretary), Prasad Candolkar (treasurer), Xembu Parab (joint treasurer), Sanjay Candolkar (attorney), and Saidutt Candolkar (joint attorney).

Meanwhile, in Curchorem, Pratit Pudalik Prabhu Sawant was elected as the new president of Shri Mahadev Devasthan Kakoda. Other members elected include Rupes Ulhas Sawant (treasurer), Pankaj Rajendra Sawant (secretary), and Tejas Dhillon Sawant (attorney).
