Five suspected dengue cases have been reported in the last eight days in Bethoda village in Ponda taluka, raising concerns among residents and
health authorities.
Of the total cases, two patients are from Padal, while one case each has been identified in Ashewada, Vaidyanagar, and Dhumemal
in Bethoda.
Consequently, the Health Department has stepped up precautionary measures in the affected areas. Fogging operations and sanitation drives have been carried out, and water
storage containers have been emptied to curb mosquito breeding.
Officials said that preventive actions are being taken to contain any possible spread.
The rise in suspected dengue cases, including those reported at the sub-district hospital in Ponda and nearby areas, has caused alarm. Health experts have warned that the situation highlights gaps in emergency preparedness in the taluka, especially as infections continue to emerge in localities.
Authorities have urged residents to maintain cleanliness and remove stagnant water to prevent further spread of the disease.
Residents of Dattagad–Ashewada, a densely populated area, have called for precautionary measures to check the spike in dengue cases.
