The Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) has decided to place emphasis on the rejuvenation of rubber plantations to improve productivity and ensure long-term sustainability.

The decision was discussed at the 118th board meeting of the corporation held on Friday at Van Bhavan, Altinho.

The meeting was chaired by GFDC chairperson and Poriem MLA Deviya Rane and was attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Kamal Datta, IFS, managing director K Ramesh Kumar, general manager Amar Heblekar and other board members. Rane said the meeting laid emphasis on rejuvenating rubber plantations across the state to enhance productivity and sustainability in the long term.

She said the board also discussed strengthening and upgrading infrastructure at cashew plantations and eco-tourism sites, enhancing visitor facilities and activities, and exploring new avenues to expand sustainable eco-tourism initiatives across Goa.

Rane said these efforts reflected the corporation’s commitment towards conservation-driven development, livelihood generation and responsible eco-tourism.

The board also held deliberations on the successful conduct of the Goa Forest Diversity Festival 2026. Rane said the impact and outreach of the festival had resonated across the state.
