Goa has emerged as one of the top-performing states in the implementation of the SVAMITVA Scheme, which aims to provide rural households with legal ownership of residential properties through drone-based mapping.
The state has achieved full coverage in key parameters: a total of 6,72,646 property cards have been both generated and handed over to beneficiaries, marking a 100 per cent completion rate.
According to the nationwide data of the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Goa has successfully completed drone surveys across all its 410 notified villages, with property cards prepared and distributed for all surveyed properties.
The scheme aims to boost financial inclusion, enable access to credit, and reduce property-related disputes in rural areas.
The Union ministry’s data says the scheme has made significant progress at the national level, with drone flying completed in 3, 29,675 villages out of 3,44,001 notified ones.
Property cards have been prepared for 1,87,665 villages, resulting in over 31 crore property cards generated, of which around 26.57 crore have been distributed.
States like Haryana and Uttarakhand have also achieved complete distribution of property cards in all surveyed villages. Bigger states such as Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have recorded substantial progress, contributing significantly to the total number of property cards generated nationwide.
However, several states including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu are yet to make notable progress in property card preparation and distribution, despite completing drone surveys.
