Panaji: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, addressing the gathering at the 43rd Foundation Day of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) held in Ahmedabad virtually, said India is pacing fast on the path of becoming a foremost startup nation and that Goa too is looking at erecting a strong start-up-orientated ecosystem.

Sawant praised Gujarat’s development model and commended EDII for its contribution to entrepreneurship promotion within India and beyond.

“Today, India is pacing fast on the path of becoming a foremost startup nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and in this, EDII is significantly contributing,” Sawant said. “Goa looks forward to erecting a strong start-up-orientated ecosystem that can walk hand in hand with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Gujarat’, seeking to accomplish the mandate of Viksit Goa.”

The Chief Minister said that the EDII–Goa Centre, inaugurated on March 12, 2024, is working to foster entrepreneurship in the state.

“Entrepreneurship has come far; it is hailed as a powerful tool for socio-economic growth. The vision of Viksit Bharat is based on the pillars of entrepreneurship, skill development, technology, innovations and expanding markets,” said chairman of Rasna Group and Honorary Consul General of South Korea (Gujarat), Dr Piruz Khambatta, while commending EDII for envisioning growth on these factors decades ago.

Guest of Honour, Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Secretary (Industries), Goa, spoke about the role of the EDII–Goa Centre in shaping the state’s entrepreneurial landscape.

The event was attended by dignitaries from government, industry, and academia and highlighted EDII’s role in advancing India’s startup and innovation ecosystem.
