State home to prestigious institutions, high schools equipped with modern facilities: CM

Panaji : Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said the state government has provided diverse career opportunities for the Goan youth through the implementation of the startup policy, creation of educational facilities, and other initiatives, making Goa the only state to do so.

Speaking at the inaugural function of Converge 3.0 Shiksha Udyojak Sangam – Academia-Industry Summit at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao, Sawant said Goa is home to several prestigious educational institutions, colleges, and high schools equipped with modern facilities.

“Along with strengthening educational infrastructure, the state government has implemented a startup policy, introduced skill training programmes, and made skill-oriented syllabi available for the Goan youth. These initiatives have created ample opportunities for young people to launch their own startups or secure jobs across various sectors,” he said.

Sawant advised the youth to aspire to become job creators rather than jobseekers, adding that with the wide range of career opportunities facilitated by the government, Goan students should have no confusion about their future after graduation.

He emphasised that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working towards making India a developed nation by 2047.

“The state government has set its own target of becoming a developed state by 2037. I am pleased to note that, through the effective implementation of the Swayampurna Goa mission, the state is steadily moving towards self-reliance. Goa is fast becoming the country’s innovation hub,” he said.

He reckoned that with participation from students of 50 colleges and leading industry partners, the Converge 3.0 Summit is bridging classrooms with careers through hackathons, boot camps, mentoring, and innovation—encouraging youth to become creators and problem solvers.

Higher education director Bhushan Savaikar, entrepreneurship education director Dr Satya Ranjan Acharya, summit convenor Dr Niyan Marchon, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
