Women self-help groups (SHGs) can now send their products across the country and internationally as well with India Post stepping in as a logistics partner at SARAS 2025.
India Post has partnered with Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM) to guide SHGs in leveraging postal services for effective delivery and promotion of their goods.
This collaboration is a step towards empowering rural entrepreneurs, allowing them access to India Post’s extensive infrastructure to grow their businesses, reach new markets, and gain wider recognition for their products, said a senior official of the Goa postal service.
“The Department of Posts will play an important role in helping SHGs realise their potential by offering a range of services that facilitate the transportation of their products across India and even abroad. We aim to provide a comprehensive logistics solution to support their growth,” he said.
He said that the partnership will offer several services to support SHGs, including parcel services, cash on delivery (COD), and free pickup facilities for SHG consignments that exceed Rs 10,000 from a single location on a monthly basis.
It also offers a one-stop export solution for international deliveries via Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra (DNK), BNPL (Book Now Pay Later) or advance customer enrolment for SHGs, bulk booking options, packaging services at reasonable rates at key post offices across Goa, including Panaji, Margao, Canacona, Calangute, Arambol, and Anjuna, and insurance coverage for individual parcels to ensure safe transit, he added.
The Department of Posts also offers specialised services such as airlift parcel delivery to 37 destinations within India, which is particularly beneficial for SHGs looking to distribute products nationwide. India Post has over 1.6 lakh post offices across the country.
In January, the Goa Postal Division introduced the mobile pick-up van service, which provides doorstep collection and booking for domestic and international mails. This service is especially advantageous for the coastal areas of North Goa, making it easier for local businesses, including SHGs, to ship their products.
