The government has decided to identify additional wetlands for protection and explore the sustainable use of mining pits.

After chairing the 19th meeting of the Goa
State Wetland Authority (GSWA) at the Mantralaya, Porvorim, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said major decisions were taken on conservation of existing wetlands, identification of new ones, and the wise
and sustainable use of mining pits.

“We are committed to protecting Goa’s wetlands, strengthening conservation mechanisms, and ensuring sustainable ecological management for future generations,” he said.

Sawant also chaired the 4th Central Project Steering and Management Committee (CPSMC) meeting of
the GoVAN Project. He said the meeting reviewed the progress of the project, ongoing initiatives and the
way forward.

The Foundation of Integrated Development and Research (FIDR) and GoVAN teams presented updates on interventions focused on improving nutrition, community development and grassroots
welfare.

Sawant said the government remains committed to strengthening last-mile service delivery and ensuring impactful outcomes for beneficiaries.
