The High Court of Bombay at Goa has ordered a multi-departmental inspection under police protection in a land-related public interest litigation (PIL) concerning Survey No. 256/2 at Sodiem, Siolim, Bardez, after noting that an inspection ordered in June was not carried out.
The High Court fixed August 12, at 3 pm for the inspection.
The inspection team
will comprise the Deputy Collector of Bardez, the Chief Town Planner, the Secretary of the Village Panchayat of Sodiem-Siolim, the Chief Conservator of Forests and officials from the Water Resources Department. Surveyors from the Inspector of Settlement and Land Records will also be present to provide technical assistance.
The High Court directed the police inspector of Mapusa police station to provide the necessary police protection during the inspection.
It said that several occupants may have purchased plots during the pendency of the PIL and may not have been notified earlier about the proceedings. It directed that such occupants be served with copies of the court’s orders.
The High Court also directed the Sub-Registrar and the Deputy Collector of Bardez to file compliance affidavits regarding its earlier directions.
A comprehensive report on the inspection has to be submitted before the High Court by August 27.
The petition was filed by Anagh Uday Kudalkar and has been posted for hearing on September 1.
