Headmistress booked for slapping Class 6 boy

Headmistress of a high school in Sanguem was booked on Wednesday for allegedly physically assaulting a Class 6 boy. A police complaint in this regard has been filed by the victim’s mother.

According to police, headmistress Teja Bhise was inquiring about some matter between two students in a classroom when she repeatedly slapped one of the boys. The whole incident has been recorded in a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed in the
classroom.

Police said the incident came to light after the victim boy informed his mother about it. The boy’s mother subsequently went to the school and inquired about the incident with the headmistress.

Police said the boy’s mother claimed that the headmistress did not provide her with a satisfactory reply following which she procured the CCTV camera footage from the school and lodged a complaint at the Sanguem police station.

Police have registered an offence under Sections 125a and 115(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya
Sanhita (BNS).

 

 

 

Police have registered the offence for endangering human life due to rashness or negligence and for voluntarily causing hurt, and under Section 8(2) of Goa Children’s Act.

Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, chairman of the school management Sandesh Kosambe said a special meeting has been convened in the school on Thursday to discuss the matter and arrive at a decision.
