Margao: The Tribal Welfare Department has begun collecting data across 11 key parameters to prepare a vision document aimed at achieving the goal of ‘Swampurna Adivasi by 2037’ for Goa’s Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, Tribal Welfare Minister Ramesh Tawadkar said on Friday.

He was speaking at the Janjatiya Manthan Shibir organised by the Directorate of Tribal Welfare and the Tribal Research Institute to support the preparation of the vision document. An awareness programme on Atal Asra Yojana and Ashraya Adhar Yojana was also held.

Tawadkar said the department was working on a master plan for the overall development of the STcommunity.

“We envision a master plan that ensures every tribal member becomes a ‘Swampurna Adivasi’,” Tawadkar said.

He said the proposed development plan would help the department make better use of Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) funds.

Substantial allocations are available under the TSP but, in the past, the absence of systematic planning and strong project proposals had prevented full utilisation of these funds, the minister said.

He said the exercise is aligned with the Chief Minister’s vision of Swayampurna Goa by 2037 and the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

“The department has consulted ST leaders, government officials, retired personnel and subject experts to gather inputs for data collection on 11 parameters, including health, education, culture and agriculture, across all 10 clusters established by the department,” said Tawadkar.
