The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has sought an immediate ban on Holi parties organised by nightclubs and river cruises and demanded legal action against organisers allegedly allowing minors at events where unlimited alcohol is proposed to be served.

In a memorandum submitted to Additional District Collector (North Goa) Prashant Parab, the HJS objected to events featuring rain dances, pool parties, Bollywood DJs and dhol performances, stating that such celebrations misrepresent the sacred Hindu festival of Holi.

The delegation included Goa state organiser of HJS Satyavijay Naik, Rajshri Gadekar of Ranaragini, Shubha Sawant, Hemshree Gadekar and Dilip Shetye.

Citing the recent fire incident at a nightclub in Arpora, the HJS also urged authorities to verify whether such organises possess the required safety permissions.

A complaint has been filed with Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Harish Madkaikar, with a copy to Director of Women and Child Welfare Jyoti Desai, seeking action against organisers for allegedly permitting minors
at the event.
