NT Reporter Vasco

A two-wheeler rider was injured on Tuesday morning on the Vasco flyover after iron pellets scattered on the road allegedly from an overloaded truck linked to Mormugao Port Authority (MPA).

This marks the second such incident in recent months. According to witnesses, pellets were seen strewn along both the centre and edges of the flyover, causing a rider to skid. Blood and broken glass bangles were seen at the site as the injured was taken to hospital.

Passersby gathered at the location, blaming the port and transport authorities for negligence and endangering public safety.

A similar incident occurred months ago near Verna and Nuvem, where iron pellets were found scattered on the highway.

At the time, rumours spread that the pellets were valuable, attracting curious locals.

Local residents have demanded that the government take stringent action against those transporting cargo unsafely and implement stricter oversight to prevent recurrence.
