Co-owners of Birch by Romeo Lane, Saurav and Gaurav Luthra, who are currently in police custody, have claimed during investigation that they are not liable for the fire

incident at their nightclub, stating that managers and staff were assigned responsibility.

Police sources alleged that the duo are not cooperating with the investigation.

Sources said the Luthra brothers have claimed that event organisers had set off electronic fireworks inside the club, leading to the fire, and that they have no direct connection with the incident. Police sources alleged that the duo have adopted a strategy of denial during questioning.

The brothers remain in police custody and are being treated like regular suspects, provided standard food and sleeping arrangements on paper sheets laid on the floor. Sources said interrogation of the Luthra brothers is continuing.

The Luthra brothers had fled to Phuket, Thailand following the December 6 fire incident which claimed 25 lives.

Meanwhile, following court directions, Ajay Gupta, co-owner, was provided with a mattress due to health issues. The Mapusa court will hear the bail application filed by Gupta on Saturday. The bail application of Bharat Kohli, operations manager, is also scheduled to be heard on Saturday.
