Crime Branch police have filed a chargesheet against Omorigo Friday (42), a Nigerian national, in connection with a Rs 15 lakh drug seizure case, while dropping co-accused Sudhir Paleinkar (42) due to lack
of evidence.

The matter is likely to come up for hearing on April 13.

Friday was arrested on February 6 for allegedly being in possession of 31.7 grams of cocaine worth over Rs 15 lakh.

Police had said that Paleinkar provided a private two-wheeler and rented out his premises to Friday but failed to submit the mandatory C-Form to authorities, thereby concealing the identity of the Nigerian national.

Crime Branch SP Rahul Gupta had said that Friday was arrested during a raid conducted at Pilerne-Marra, Bardez, by a team led by PI Mahesh Gadekar, while Paleinkar was arrested on February 8.

Police said the accused was found in illegal possession of a white-coloured crystalline substance suspected to be cocaine, weighing 31.794 grams and valued at
Rs 15,89,700.

Police had also attached a scooter in connection with the case.
