Minister for Tribal Welfare Ramesh Tawadkar on Friday announced that the tender for the construction of a tribal bhavan at Porvorim will be floated in the next 15 days and the project will be completed
within 18 months.

Addressing the media after holding a meeting with various stakeholders and representatives of tribal organisations at the Secretariat in Porvorim, he said a detailed presentation on the design of the proposed tribal bhavan was made during the meeting.

“Almost 90 per cent of the design of the project has been accepted by the stakeholders and we will try to make some 10 percent changes in the design if required as suggested by some members in the next eight days. We will float a tender for the project in the next 15 days. The project will be completed in 180 days once from the commencement of the
work,” he said.

Tawadkar also expressed confidence that political reservation for Scheduled Tribe communities in the Goa Legislative Assembly will become a reality in the 2027 Assembly polls.

“We had meetings with the Union Minister of State for Law and Judiciary and the secretary of law in New Delhi. As per our knowledge there are no hurdles in implementing the political reservation. I am confident that the seats will be reserved for STs in upcoming assembly elections,”
he said.

Tawadkar further said that a technical cell in the Department of Tribal Welfare has been put in place and that changes are proposed in certain schemes to streamline
the process.
