Governor designate of Kerala Rajendra Arlekar, on Wednesday, said he is not in the race for any political post in Goa. This comes  after the state president of Bharatiya Janata Party Sadanand Shet Tanavade stated that there could be a cabinet reshuffle in the state government this year.

“I feel you will see cabinet reshuffle this year,” Tanavade told ‘The Navhind Times’, informing that he held a meeting with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on New Year’s day, along with other senior party members, which also saw discussions on the forthcoming BJP organisational polls in the state.

Justifying the need for cabinet reshuffle, the state BJP chief said that the reshuffle issue has been simmering with the central BJP leadership for a while.

Tanavade also maintained that his party has made a resolution to strengthen its organisation in Goa, so as to bring its government in power once again in 2027. “In the coming days, there will be organisational elections of the party,” he added, pointing out that new mandal and district committees of the party will be elected before January 10.

Arlekar who is presently in Goa, said that his claim for the post of Chief Minister of Goa is a baseless rumour. “I have been entrusted with the responsibility as Kerala Governor,” he said.

Arlekar said that all Goans came to know about the rumour after he was transferred as the Governor of Kerala from Bihar. “I am clearly stating that I had not got any such offer for political post in Goa,” he said.
