Over 14,000 verified and 95 arrested in three-day statewide security operations

Panaji/Margao/Valpoi: In continuation of the combing operations, North Goa police arrested 50 individuals and rounded up 240 others for verification on Sunday. Police sources said that during the operation, 198 “stranger rolls” were filled. Additionally, action was taken against 34 hawkers conducting business illegally.

Between the intervening nights of April 25 and 26, April 26, and April 27, a cumulative verification of 5,325 tenants and 2,566 servants was conducted across North Goa. During this period, 78 persons were arrested under preventive action, 345 stranger roll entries were made, 906 suspected persons were rounded up, and 34 cases were booked against unauthorised hawkers.

Alongside, coastal security measures have been strengthened. All officer in-charges of Coastal Security Police Stations have commenced combing operations at jetties and deployed police personnel at sensitive beaches along the coastal belt. Verification drives have also been undertaken for fishermen at Talpona Beach and other key coastal points. To ensure enhanced maritime surveillance, a structured boat patrolling pattern has been implemented along Goa’s 105 km coastline.

Furthermore, cyber vigilance has been intensified. The Social Media Monitoring Team is maintaining real-time surveillance across various platforms. Inputs relating to any unwanted, provocative, or disturbing posts are immediately shared with senior officers for necessary action, and such posts are promptly reported for deletion to prevent their spread. Monitoring has been strengthened through the platform Sudarshan Application developed by the central government for enhanced monitoring and tracking of viral content.

Meanwhile, Valpoi police launched a special drive across Sayyadnagar, Nagvem, and Honda in Sattari. As part of the operation, the police verified 110 tenants within the last 24 hours. According to SDPO Jivba Dalvi, four individuals were arrested.

“The Valpoi police’s special drive is part of a larger effort to ensure public safety and security,” Dalvi said.

In Curtorim, police intensified tenant verification operations, arresting five individuals on suspicion late Sunday evening.

Police sources revealed that combing operations were carried out, during which 450 tenant verifications were completed. Five individuals were arrested under suspicion. Further details are awaited.

Meanwhile, in South Goa, 2,515 tenants and 433 strangers were verified, 171 individuals were rounded up, and 17 persons were arrested. Additionally, 107 hotels and guest houses were inspected, resulting in the filling of 68 ‘C’ forms and verification of 3,318 persons, including foreign nationals.
