The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has started the process to appoint a consultant to prepare estimates for the repair of the mangrove boardwalk along the Rua de Ourem
creek at Patto.

“We have started the process to appoint a consultant. After finalising the requirements, we will float a tender for the appointment of the consultant,” a CCP official said.

Soon after it was inaugurated, the boardwalk had gained popularity among locals as well
as tourists. Additionally, it was a popular spot among the photographers who had carried out photoshoots there.

“It has also been decided to shut the boardwalk entirely to prevent any untoward incidents,”
the official said.

This one-of-its kind project has been lying in dilapidated condition with WPC flooring damaged, benches missing, railing damaged at different locations, dustbins broken and signage boards missing.

“We had prepared the estimates earlier but now they have to be revised as it has been observed that there are severe damages to the boardwalk”
the official said.

“Once the estimates are approved, we can go ahead with the repairs of the boardwalk,” the official said, adding that the repairs will have to be carried out by CCP as the project has already been handed over to CCP by Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL).

CCP, last year, had also closed the entry to the boardwalk to prevent any untoward incident. It had also filed a complaint before the Panaji Police Station over the damages to the project.
