Rail underpass work starts in Vasco, cops unveil diversion routes

Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, who inaugurated the construction of a major railway underpass and a road-widening project in Vasco, said the initiative fulfils a longstanding demand of local residents.

Meanwhile, Vasco Traffic Police Inspector Alvito Rodrigues released a video explaining the diversions to be followed by road users.

Traffic from Varunapuri to Vasco has been asked to take the Varunapuri flyover towards Baina, turn right near Ravindra Bhavan, and descend to Baina to enter the city. Similarly, traffic heading towards Mangor Hill has been asked to take the upramp near the Vasco vegetable market and proceed towards Mangor Hill via Varunapuri.

Residents of internal areas such as Maimollem, Belabai, Orulem and others have been asked to use

the Baina route to reach their locations.

“The road catering to traffic from St Andrew’s Church to Mangor Hill will remain closed. The South Western Railway commencing work of laying of blocks for the new railway underbridge, the road closure is announced from November 20-25,” said Rodrigues.
