Panaji: The Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of Vice President of India C P Radhakrishnan’s visit to Goa on May 29 and 30, informing commuters of traffic restrictions and diversions along key routes connecting Dabolim Airport and Dona Paula.

According to the advisory issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Traffic, the VVIP convoy route from Dabolim Airport to Dona Paula via Chicalim, Cortalim, the New Zuari Bridge, Bambolim and Dona Paula will remain closed to general vehicular movement during specified hours.

The restrictions will be in place on May 29 from 4 pm to 7 pm, and on May 30 from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. Only ambulances and emergency vehicles will be permitted during the closure.

On May 30, the Vice President is scheduled to attend state functions at Kala Academy, Panaji, and the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Dona Paula, between 10 am and 2 pm.

During this period, traffic movement from Lok Bhavan to Kala Academy will be restricted on Dr Jack Sequeira Road and D B Marg. Regular vehicular traffic will be diverted through Caranzalem and Miramar internal roads.

The advisory stated that commuters travelling towards Dabolim Airport may use NH-566 from Birla Cross Junction, Verna.

Traffic police also said vehicular movement may be regulated and diverted at multiple points to ensure smooth movement of the VVIP convoy.

Air passengers have been advised to leave well in advance to avoid delays and the possibility of missing flights.

The public has also been asked not to park vehicles along the VVIP route and to cooperate with traffic personnel during the visit.

Drone ops banned near Dabolim airport during Vice Prez’s visit

Vasco: The District Magistrate, South, has prohibited aerial photography, aerial videography, and the flying or operation of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles within a 2-km radius of Dabolim International Airport from 3 pm on May 29 to 5 pm on May 30 in view of the Vice President of India’s visit to Goa. The order exempts police personnel and government officials using drones strictly for official duties, provided they carry valid identity cards and written authorisation from the competent authority. The exemption will apply only during the enforcement period and while personnel are engaged in official work.
