Varun Albuquerque (39) has been conferred as the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in
Goa.
Albuquerque is a Director of the Alcon Victor Group that has diverse business interests ranging from real estate development to hospitality and healthcare.
The notification on February 12 in the Gazette of India states that the President of India has officially recognised Albuquerque’s appointment.
“This designation is the recognition of your tireless efforts to protect the rights and legitimate interests of Russian citizens in Goa and promote cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of India in various spheres,” states the official communication to Albuquerque’s office.
Albuquerque has been assisting the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation in Goa for coordinating with the local Police, FRRO in regards to the Russian nationals in Goa and also helping the Russian nationals whenever required.
His father late Victor Albuquerque held the post till his demise
in 2022.
