Amid allegations that St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar was manhandled and protesters were removed from the Chief Town Planner’s office on Saturday morning, Town and Country Planning Minister Vishwajit Rane termed the protesting villagers of Pale-Siridao opposing Section 39A of the TCP Act as ‘blackmailers’.

Reacting to the protest, Rane said he would not take cognisance of the agitation being held at the TCP headquarters. “Let them sleep there day and night,” Rane said in the morning while speaking
to reporters. Later, in a video released on social media, the Town and Country Planning Minister said he had heard that some problem had taken place at the TCP headquarters. “We will find out what happened with MLA Viresh Borkar as he is my colleague,” he said. Rane further said that laws are made by the Legislative Assembly and such matters must be addressed on the floor of the House, not through pressure
tactics.
