NT Reporter | Margao

In a shocking land grab case, a woman from Loutolim sold a plot which was allotted to the Electricity Department as her own for a whopping price of Rs 2.40 crore. The woman has now been booked for the fraud by the Fatorda police.

The police said that Ashish Rajput, GED executive engineer of Division XIV, Verna, lodged a complaint stating that on August 22, 2025 the accused impersonated as the rightful owner and executed the sale deed at office of the civil registrar-cum-sub-registrar in Margao. The police stated that the property was awarded to the Electricity Department by Goa IDC vide award ‘no 07.10.2010-SLAO-IDC in 2013’. However, the accused posing as the rightful owner of the said property induced and executed sale deed fraudulently to one Girish Kumar Pillai for Rs 2.40 crore. The police have booked the accused woman under relevant sections of BNS.

However, no arrest has been made so far.
