Madhu Rathaya and Lawrence Gamit score once in their 2-1 win
Santa Cruz: Gujarat edged past Puducherry 2-1 in the All India Civil Services Football Tournament on Thursday at Santa Cruz ground.
Gujarat opened scored through Madhu Rathaya and Lawrence Gamit. Ramchandran pulled one back for Puducherry, but Gujarat held firm to collect full points.
In another match, Uttarakhand sailed past RSB Indore with a 6-2 victory. Sushil Lajpal was the star of the show, netting an incredible five goals, while Ravinder Bhandari added the sixth. Indore managed two consolations but were outplayed for large parts of the contest.
In the final match at Santacruz, RSB Ahmedabad cruised to a 4-1 win over Haryana. Shashank Mamgain bagged a brilliant hat-trick, with Akshay Mall also on target. Aman scored the lone goal for Haryana.
Over at the Athletic Stadium in Bambolim, RSB Cochin began their campaign impressively with a 4-0 victory over RSB Srinagar (J&K). Ashrafuddin, Saurav JP, Burjar P and Kanan R each found the net in a commanding display.
The goal rush continued as RSB Mumbai dismantled Odisha with a thumping 9-0 win. Jang Bahadur Singh was unstoppable with five goals, Sanket Salokhe struck a hat-trick, and Ashrafali Makadar rounded off the tally.
The day concluded with a spirited comeback as RSB Chennai defeated Kerala 3-1. Kerala took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but Chennai responded strongly after the break, scoring three quick goals to turn the match in their favour.
