St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, launched its newly upgraded smart classrooms under the Happy School Project, supported by one of its alumni—Dr Ashwin Fernandes, founder and president of the PACT Foundation.

As part of the initiative, three classrooms were equipped with smart boards, new benches, and renovated interiors to create a brighter, more modern learning environment.

The launch event was attended by school manager Fr Jerard Sahayaraj, principal Angelica Fernandes, senior teacher Amarnath Panjikar, along with the faculty, staff, and students. A special highlight was a musical performance composed by Physics Lab assistant Ivan D’Cruz and performed by students.

Dr Fernandes said, “Coming back to St Thomas isn’t just about visiting my old school—it’s returning to the place that shaped who I am. To all the students: always remember where you come from, but never let it stop you from reaching your goals. I was once like you. Dream big, be inspired, and aim high.” The Happy School Project, launched by PACT in 2023, has supported 17 schools in Goa so far by introducing smart tools, repairing classrooms, and improving sanitation.

Fr Jerard said, “When we give from the heart, we receive even more in return. Today’s gift to the school is not just about smart boards and benches—it brings hope and confidence to every child.”

The PACT (People for Action, Change and Transformation) Foundation is a non-profit organisation that works to support communities through better education and care. Through projects like the Happy School Project, it helps schools grow and children succeed.
