Korgao in Pernem and Ward 16 of Margao Municipal Council have been identified in Goa for the pre-survey of Census 2027.
The pre-survey began with a conference of Census Operations Directors in July 2025, with a pre-test to follow in September-October. A notification is expected by the end of August. The exercise will focus on household amenities and test procedures for the upcoming census.
The 2027 Census will be fully digital, including caste enumeration, and will begin with house listing operations in October 2026 for snow-bound areas, and early 2027 for others, followed by population enumeration.
The exercise will use mobile apps for real-time data collection, include self-enumeration options, and feature offline capability for remote areas, along with enhanced data security.
The Goa government has appointed Secretary (Tribal Welfare) Chesta Yadav, IAS, as Director of Census Operations for the state.
