Nagpur: President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday said India can be called developed in true sense only if everyone gets an equal opportunity to progress and the benefits of development reach every home.

She was speaking after launching the ‘Golden Era of Maharashtra through Unity and Trust’ campaign, organised by Brahma Kumaris in Nagpur.

“India will be called developed in true sense only if everyone gets equal opportunity to progress, when technology becomes the resource of progress and the benefits of development reach every home,” she said.

According to her, being positive and having trust in the present are needed to spread unity and faith across the world. “India used to be known as a golden sparrow…The day is not far when the era of Swarnim Bharat or Viksit Bharat or Vishwa Guru will come again with people’s faith and unity,” the President said. She urged people to discard negativity and embrace positivity.

“Unity and faith are the foundation stones for a strong nation. When mutual trust increases in society, people rise above personal benefit and work together for a common aim. By promoting equality, leaving discrimination and by participating in social causes, every citizen can contribute to nation-building,” she said.

Stating that the government has launched several initiatives to promote national integration and social harmony, she added that Digital India, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) and other services have “instilled a sense of trust among the people and strengthened the process of nation-building”.

Describing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as an inspirational figure, who fought for justice and freedom, she also hailed the contribution of saints in Maharashtra.
