Police question asst professor in university paper leak case

Agassaim police on Saturday said that Goa University’s suspended assistant professor, Dr Pranav Naik was questioned at length in connection with the alleged paper leak case.

Naik, a resident of Canca, Mapusa, appeared before the police on Saturday evening after he received summons in connection with the case. Police said that if required, Naik will be called again for questioning.

On Friday, police had registered an FIR against Naik under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for cheating, criminal trespass and house trespass, forgery with the intent to cheat, etc.

Police said that the complaint was lodged by Goa University Registrar, Professor S N Dhuri.

Referring to the complaint, police said that Naik made duplicate keys of the cabins of multiple faculty members without their consent and unlawfully entered certain faculty cabins without permission, thereby breaching the privacy and security of other members.

The accused also indulged in the assessment of examination of one specific female student, thereby cheating other students, police said.
