Although the new academic year for Classes from VI to X and Class XII will begin from April 1, the Education Department has decided to maintain the schedule of the final/ year-end examinations as well as the results for these classes.
Director of education Shailesh Zingade said that the schools have been asked to conduct the final/year-end exams in March after the end of the SSC exam in the third week
of March.
“Considering the one-month period required for correction of papers, we have asked the schools to release the results of these exams by April 29,” he added, pointing out that this situation would not prevent the commencement of the new academic year on April 1.
It was also informed that since the ‘no-detention’ policy is still in existence, the students till class VIII would face no problem in being promoted, and continuing their education in the new academic year. Those students failing in Class IX will get the opportunity of answering the supplementary examination and moving to the next year.
However, the Education Department will have to reframe its schedule for the academic year 2025-26, especially the final exams for classes from VI to X and class XII as well as their results. The summer vacations will now begin from May 1 and schools will open again in the first week of June, after this break, thus helping in meeting the added teaching-learning hours under the National Education Policy (NEP), for these classes.
The director of education also said that the mid-day meal scheme would continue in the new academic year, especially during the month of April.
“We will ensure that the food items supplied under the scheme to the students are not affected due to the summer heat,” he added.
The classes in April would, however, continue only till 11.30am.
