Taleigao: Russian IM Alexander Slizhevsky and Kyrgyzstan’s IM Semetei Tologon Tegin share the lead with perfect 5-point scores after five rounds of the Late Shri Manohar Parrikar 3rd Goa International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament at Taleigao.

GM Alexei Fedorov (Belarus) and GM Sayantan Das (West Bengal) follow closely at 4.5 points, while a pack of 15 players, including top-rated GM Diptayan Ghosh, stands at 4 points.

The tournament’s defining moment came when Slizhevsky defeated higher-rated GM Sethuraman S.P., while Semetei maintained his share of the lead by overcoming IM Nitin S.

Goa players continued their impressive run on Day 4. IM Ethan Vaz (2412, GOA) held IM Aronyak Ghosh (2544, RSPB) to a well-fought draw, keeping him in the top bracket with 4 points. GM Anurag Mhamal (2499, GOA) drew his game against FM Arjun Adireddy (2327, TEL), while IM Ameya Audi (2422, GOA) scored a commendable win against CM Vedant Varasada (2154, GUJ). IM Ritviz Parab (2371, GOA) also registered an important victory, defeating WCM Charvi A. (2087, KAR), taking all three host players, Anurag, Audi and Parab to 3.5 points each after five
