Ambaulim clinch Chinchinim cup

United Boys of Ambaulim defeated Canacona SCC 2-0 to win the 19th Chinchinim–Deussua Village Panchayat Cup final at the CRC ground.

Watched by a crowd of over 2,000 spectators, both teams produced an entertaining contest with several scoring chances
at either end.

Ambaulim’s Sowell Fernandes squandered an early opportunity, while Canacona’s Ronaldo Oliveira saw his shot from inside the box sail over the crossbar.

United Boys took the lead just before half time when Visiton Fernandes delivered a cross from the right flank which Cyril Dias neatly guided into the net to make it 1-0 at the break.

After the restart, Ambaulim’s Sowell Fernandes and Alex Fernandes missed chances to extend the lead, while Canacona’s Mehboob and Ronaldo Oliveira were unable to find the equaliser.

Cyril Dias sealed the victory in the closing minutes, scoring directly from a corner kick to make it 2-0.

Eng. Cruz Silva, presented the prizes in the presence of Julio Fernandes, Frank Viegas, , Fr Alex D’Souza, , Sandy D’Costa, club officials and other dignitaries. The programme was compered by former Sarpanch
Valentino Barretto.

Fr Agnelo YSC Paroda were declared the best losing team, while Cyril Dias of United Boys Ambaulim was named man
of the final.
