Snehal, Aman hit fine centuries against Chowgule SC on Day 1

Porvorim: Dempo Cricket Club seized control of the Goa Premier Division League 2025–26 final with a dominant batting display on Day 1, piling up 412/5 against Chowgule Sports Club at the GCA Academy ground, Porvorim on Wednesday.

After winning the toss Dempo CC opted to bat under lights. However, Dempo CC suffered and early setback and were rocked at 11/2 with Aaditya Kota and Sarthak Bhike falling cheaply. But what followed was a statement of authority.

Abhinav Tej Rana and Aman Dhooper rebuilt the innings with a composed 139-run stand, absorbing pressure before shifting gears.

Rana struck a fluent 70, setting the platform, while Dhooper took charge with a commanding 124, blending patience with clean hitting to wrest momentum back.

The innings, however, belonged to skipper Snehal Kauthankar. Walking in at a crucial juncture, he anchored the charge with an unbeaten 136, dictating terms and wearing down the opposition attack.

His 130-run partnership with Dhooper pushed Dempo into a position of strength before he combined with Jeevan Chittem for an unbroken 90-run stand to close the day.

Chittem’s steady 39 not out ensured there were no late hiccups as Dempo surged past the 400-mark, leaving Chowgule searching for answers.

For Chowgule, Shubham Tari and Darshan Misal picked up two wickets apiece, while Pradyumna Atpadkar chipped in with one, but the attack struggled to contain Dempo’s scoring.

Dempo will now look to continue their dominating run on Day 2.
