Dempo SC has reinforced their squad with the addition of two foreign players, Lukman Abegunrin and Jean-Charles Didier Kpéhi Brossou, during the January transfer window. The Golden Eagles, aiming to maintain their momentum in the I-League, have bolstered their ranks following recent challenges with injuries and player exits.

The club faced a tough stretch with just one foreign player, Shaher Shaheen, available for matches against Gokulam Kerala and Rajasthan United. This came after Damian Perez sustained an injury against Inter Kashi and striker Matija Babovic moved to Inter Kashi. The arrival of Lukman and Brossou provides much-needed depth to the squad.

“We are delighted to have Lukman and Jean-Charles Didier Brossou joining the team. The players understand the Dempo SC philosophy and are here to fight for the club. I would like to wish them good luck for the season,” said an official from Dempo SC.

Lukman, who was signed earlier but faced delays in registration, has now joined the squad and traveled with the team to Srinagar. He is likely to make his debut in the upcoming clash against Real Kashmir FC on January 26.

Speaking to the media, Lukman shared his excitement about joining the five-time national champions. “I am very happy to join Dempo SC. My favorite Indian team from the days of Ranti Martins. I am here to work with my teammates, and by the end of the season, we are going to achieve our goals. Thanks,” he said.

The second signing, Jean-Charles Didier Kpéhi Brossou, will have to wait for his debut as he hasn’t traveled with the squad to Srinagar. However, Brossou expressed his eagerness to don the Dempo jersey. “I am delighted to join the Golden Eagles. We all know how big the club is in India, and I am happy to be a part of this club. Can’t wait to play for the club,” he stated.
