Márquez’s side takes on Punjab FC in New Delhi today
Panaji: FC Goa will aim to continue their impressive start to the Indian Super League 2025–26 season when they face Punjab FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Monday, with kick-off scheduled for 7.30 p.m.
The Gaurs head into the fixture unbeaten after four matches, registering two wins and two draws so far. Their latest outing saw them share the spoils with East Bengal FC, a result that kept their early-season momentum intact under head coach Manolo Márquez.
Consistency has been a defining feature of FC Goa’s performances since Márquez took charge, with the Gaurs yet to lose to Punjab FC in all competitions during his tenure. As the season begins to gather pace, Goa will be keen to preserve that record while extending their unbeaten run.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Márquez acknowledged the challenge posed by their opponents.
“They train with very good pace and you can see that in their players. Punjab always plays with good intensity and pace in their moments, so for us it will be the most difficult game out of the five games we have played so far,” he said. Punjab FC have endured a mixed start to their campaign, recording one win, one draw and one defeat from three matches. Their previous game ended in a draw against NorthEast United FC, and they will be eager to capitalise on home advantage as they look to climb the table.
Forward Ishan Pandita also underlined the personal significance of the campaign.
“Every season is important, but this one feels even more important for me with everything that has happened over the last two or three years. Getting the opportunity to play minutes and show what I can do is something I’m really looking forward to,” Pandita said.
