Mapusa: Geno FC clinched the 20th Goa Police Football Cup after a narrow 1-0 victory over Calangute Associaton at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Friday.
In the first half, Geno displayed control in the midfield creating chances at the rival goal. Their persistence paid off in the 41st minute on a counter attack when
Sankalp Kankonkar whipped a cross from the right flank that was cleared away by the Calangute defender. However, Geno’s Vasim Inamdar was quick to react during the attack and picked up the ball at the top of the box and curled it in the bottom left corner, giving his side the lead before the break.
The second half saw Calangute push hard to find the equalizer launching long balls for Shaviz Pathan. However, the Geno defense held firm to the narrow lead to seal the 1-0 victory.
