Vagator

Geno FC thrashed Guardian Angel SC 6-1 in the Goa Professional League at Vagator Ground on Wednesday.

Guardian Angel struck first in the 18th minute. A precise through ball from their Cyril Dias split the defence, and although Geno’s Pratik Naik slid in to intercept, he failed to clear the danger. Pratamesh Gaonkar reacted quickest, gathered the loose ball, rounded the goalkeeper and calmly slotted home to hand Guardian Angel an early advantage.

Stung into action, Geno responded with urgency and began dictating possession. Their pressure told in the 32nd minute when Deeshank Kunkalikar whipped in a curling corner that found Akeraj Martins at the near post, whose header took a deflection off a Guardian Angel SC defender to restore parity before the break.

The second half belonged entirely to Geno. In the 52nd minute, Velito Cruz floated a perfectly weighted ball into the box for Vasim Inamdar, who ghosted behind the defence, controlled neatly and finished with composure to put his side ahead. Two minutes later, Sarineo Fernandes capitalised on the momentum, extending the lead and leaving Guardian Angel
reeling.

Coach Francisco Da Costa added further firepower by introducing Clencio Pinto in the 62nd minute, and the substitution paid immediate dividends. Within minutes, Clencio threaded a smart pass to Vasim on the right, who cut inside and hammered home his second to make it 4-1.

Guardian Angel attempted a response, but Geno’s backline stood resolute. Clencio then turned scorer, rising highest to head Gourav’s corner into the net for the fifth. He capped off a stellar cameo with a brilliant solo effort, collecting a pass from Velito Cruz, surging from midfield into the box and finishing clinically to complete his brace.
