NT Reporter | Porvorim/ Chicalim

Gomanchal Warriors and Vasco Warriors booked their spots in the final of the 3rd Goa Veterans Cricket Tournament after posting contrasting semifinal wins on Sunday.

At the GCA ground in Porvorim, Gomanchal Warriors defended a modest 126 to secure a 23-run victory over Desserts N More Avengers. Ashish Yadav’s fluent 66 was the backbone of Gomanchal’s innings, with brief support from Ram Nagvekar (14) and Madar Basappa (12). The Avengers attack, led by Naresh Assoldekar (3–20), kept the pressure on to bundle them out in 17.5 overs.

The chase, however, never gathered momentum. Basappa produced a superb spell of 5–11, dismantling the middle order, while Sandeep Dabholkar’s 3–21 tightened the grip as the Avengers were restricted to 103/9 from their 20 overs. Basappa’s all-round impact earned him the Player of the Match award.

In the second semifinal at the SAG ground in Chicalim, Vasco Warriors overhauled Priority Titans’ strong total of 169/7 with surprising ease. The Titans were powered by contributions from Mukhtiar Kadri (47), Matin (46) and Rajesh Vaingankar (42), but Vasco’s batting proved too

strong in response.

Asad Pathan delivered one of the tournament’s standout knocks, an unbeaten 93 that kept Vasco well ahead of the chase. He found solid support in Suraj Sawal (27 not out) and Dhiraj Nagvekar (18), guiding the team to 170/3 in 19 overs and a seven-wicket win. Pathan was named Player of the Match for his match-winning innings.
