Their twin centuries power India to series-clinching win against Zimbabwe
Vadodara: Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma struck contrasting centuries as India registered a commanding 121-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second women’s ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series here on Sunday.
Harmanpreet smashed 126 off 121 balls, while Deepti remained unbeaten on 106 off 86 deliveries as India posted 328 for six after being asked to bat.
The duo added 153 runs for the fifth wicket. Pratika Rawal also contributed with a 61 off 67 balls, sharing a 124-run stand with Harmanpreet. The pair rescued India after openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma fell cheaply.
Zimbabwe’s chase never gained momentum as left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma claimed four wickets in her second ODI appearance. Deepti chipped in with three for 32 to bowl out the visitors for 207 in 48.5 overs.
Modester Mupachikwa top-scored with 49, while Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano made 46, but Zimbabwe struggled to keep pace with the required rate.
India had won the opening match by nine wickets. The ongoing series is the first bilateral ODI contest between the two teams.
