A dominant attacking display powered Mohun Bagan Super Giant to a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Kolkata derby of the Indian Super league at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan here on Saturday.

Mohammedan Sporting drew first blood in the 12th minute as Lalngaihsaka swung in a pinpoint corner from the right and Lalthankima rose highest to hammer a header into the top-left corner, beyond Vishal Kaith.

The equaliser arrived in the 22nd minute when Robson Azevedo curled a composed right-footed effort from the left edge of the box into the bottom-left corner. Four minutes later, he reacted quickest to a loose ball in the area and steered his finish into the bottom-right corner to complete his brace and
flip the contest.

Mohun Bagan extended their advantage in the 35th minute after a failed clearance fell invitingly for Jamie Maclaren, who made no mistake from
close range.

After the restart, Abhishek Singh’s cross in the 62nd minute was met by Manvir Singh, whose diving header, aided by a deflection off Sajjad Hussain, beat the goalkeeper.

The fifth arrived in the 70th minute when Dimitri Petratos unleashed a fierce 30-yard strike that clipped the woodwork before crashing into the net.
