Ritika Chelluri reigns supreme with triple crown

Mapusa: Ritika Chelluri clinched a triple crown, while Shaheen C K and Avni Khyalia also stole the spotlight with double crowns at the State Badminton Ranking Tournament for Sub Juniors and Juniors (U-13 & U-19) at the Badminton Hall, Peddem Sports Complex.

Ritika underlined her class in the Girls U-19 Singles, cruising past Aarohi Coutoncar 21-15, 21-12. She then partnered with Shreya Mehta to secure the Girls U-19 Doubles crown, defeating Saanvi Audi and Synnovia Dsouza 21-14, 21-15.

Ritika completed her treble by teaming up with Shaheen C K in the Mixed U-19 Doubles, edging past Yousuf Shaikh and Sufiya Shaikh in a tight contest 23-21, 21-14.

Shaheen wasn’t done yet, as he added the Boys U-19 Doubles title to his haul, combining with Aswin Mannambalath to overcome Advait Balakrishnan and Owais Tahasildar 21-14, 21-15.

In the Girls U-13 category, young talent Avni Khyalia delivered an impressive double. She clinched the singles crown with a 21-17, 21-14 win over Amaira Dhumatker and later paired up with Amaira to lift the Girls U-13 Doubles title, prevailing 21-14, 21-14 against Komal Kothari and Pragya Audi.

Top seed Michael Mare lived up to expectations in the Boys U-13 Singles, battling past a determined Vishwa Parab 21-16, 21-16. Vishwa found redemption in the Boys U-13 Doubles, partnering Samarth Sakhalkar to down Pratik Naik Borkar and Varun Sahakari 21-7, 21-16.

The Boys U-19 Singles final saw top seed Arjun Bhagat deliver a dominant performance, overpowering Advait Balakrishnan 21-10, 21-11 to take the title.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Prakash Bhivshet, Praveen Shenoy, Naveed Tahasildar, Roy Ataide, Kewal Sawant, Venkatesh Shenai, Aniket Shenai and others.
